Scotica Autumn 2023 Update

September 1, 2023

A short update this month – not because there isn’t much to talk about, quite the opposite in fact! We’ve been working round the clock on a number of projects we can’t wait to begin sharing with you over the coming months.

We are were hiring!

If you’re reading this, chances are we’ve closed submissions for our new Assistant Media Producer role. I’d like to take this opportunity to extend a huge thank-you to everyone who submitted their application – we were truly surprised by the quantity and quality of candidates and are very excited about what this means for the future of Scotica. We are hoping to have other opportunities available in the future so please do keep an eye on our social pages to be kept abreast of what we’re up to.

Scotica heads to Iceland

In three weeks from this coming Monday, September 4th, the Scotica crew pack up our bags and head over to Iceland for an exciting new project for our favourite duo, Talisker and Parley. A remote and dramatic landscape, a prescient and poignant environmental message, and an extremely special whisky all tie together to create what we are sure will be an exciting and impactful project. We will be posting behind-the-scenes stills and clips to our socials, so you can look forward to that!

‘Hardangerfolk’ inches closer to the line

This week we’ve been working on the online edit for our new documentary ‘Hardangerfolk’, and it’s quickly shaping up to be a product we’re very proud of, and can’t wait to share with the world. We will have news about when and where you can watch the film in the next month or so, so again make sure you’re subscribed to our social pages for updates and sneak peaks because if you wait for the next blog post, you might miss it!

If you haven’t seen the film’s teaser yet, you can view it here:

New stories with Forest Carbon and more

We are delighted to be producing two new documentaries for woodland and peatland restoration organisation Forest Carbon in the coming months, following on from our previous films ‘Rebuilding Cul Mor’ and ‘There Will Be Trees on the Mountain Again: The Story of Bryn Arw’, which you will be releasing publicly very soon. And we’re gearing up yet again for a winter project which is sure to become next year’s obsession – we can’t divulge any details at this point, save to say we’re barely going to be away from the mountains for the next six months!
