Øivind Tangstad grew up on the slopes of the Hardangervidda, Europe’s highest plateau and one of its greatest wildernesses. He took inspiration from one of the most thrilling and heroic adventure stories of the modern era, where 11 Norwegian Resistance members skied over 600km across the plateau to prevent the creation of an atomic bomb.
To mark the 80th anniversary of this tale, which has become folklore in Norway, Øivind is leading an international expeditionary team to retrace their footsteps, from the assault on the Rjukan valley, across Europe’s wildest plateau, and over the Swedish border hundreds of kilometres away.
‘Hardangerfolk’ is a documentary which shows how, at a time when war and oppression are once again gripping Europe, this inspirational story is more relevant than it has ever been.

Scotica’s work with Talisker whisky and marine conservation organisation Parley took us up to Skye to work alongside famed swimmer and adventurer Ross Edgley as well as diver and filmmaker Faine Loubser.
Scotica created a series of films for Talisker and Parley featuring the incredible work they are doing to conserve large areas of Scottish kelp forests, as well as Ross Edgley’s record-breaking 2-day, 2-night swim up Loch Ness.
The team donned their wetsuits and grabbed the underwater cine cameras to get up-close and personal with the pair, exploring Scotland’s wild waters. In 2023, Scotica created a series of commercials for Talisker’s latest product collaboration with marine conservation organisation Parley: Wilder Seas whisky, their most sustainable product ever.
From the forests above, to the ones below, wild seas – rich with kelp forests, teeming with life – are vital to our planet’s biodiversity. Supporting Talisker’s mission with Parley to keep the seas wild, they’re making a donation for every bottle of their Wilder Seas whisky made.
The team once again took to the rugged waters of Scotland to film the new whisky in its natural environment, a challenging but rewarding multi-day shoot.

Some of the most fun we’ve had on location with Scotica was producing this white-knuckle adventure promo series for canyoning legends Vertical Descents.
Underwater cinematography, abseiling from crags to reach the perfect viewpoint and filming upside-down on Scotland’s only Via Ferrata were all major highlights, and resulted in a series of films you’re unlikely to forget.

Commissioned by international sustainable travel agency IGot2Travel, this documentary series sheds light on a very different Outer Hebrides than we are used to seeing in popular media. ‘Grains of Our Love’ tells the life story of James, a local ghillie, alongside his long-time companions: a musician, a fisherman, a baker and a farmer.
Scotica worked alongside IGot2Travel to create a brief for three independent commercials, each targetted at a different customer demographic, as well as a mid-length documentary piece.
